After a 2-0 start, the Woodrow Wilson High School Wildcats lost their first game this year in action against North Forney (2-1) on Friday, Sept. 9, at Franklin Field.

Woodrow (2-1) scored largely on the strength of quarterback Piers Christian, who threw for 207 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown pass to Andre Plata. Christian also rushed 60 yards for two other touchdowns.

Wildcat kicker Damian Garcia, good on all extra points, kicked a 32-yard field goal. Many Woodrow alums will remember another Garcia, storied kicker Eddie Garcia, no relation, from the class of 1978.

Eddie Garcia still holds the SMU record for most points scored and also played for the Green Bay Packers.

Woodrow takes on Seagoville in the last non-district game tonight at 7:30 at Franklin Field — $5 admission at the gate. Next week is homecoming.

Thanks to Kyle Rains, ardent Woodrow backer and ’76 graduate, for the words, and to Gloria West who snapped the photo.
