The Bath House Cultural Center opened Aug. 22, 1981 as the city’s first such community arts facility. By that time it already had served the city dating back to 1930 as a changing room for swimmers at White Rock Lake.

The staff and community celebrate the center’s 30th anniversary with a special art exhibit — From Sandy Beaches to Vibrant Arts — which opens Sept. 3 and runs through Oct. 1.

An opening reception with artists in attendance takes place from 7-9 p.m., Sept. 3, at the Bath House, which now is closed for maintenance until Aug. 22.

Artworks on exhibit, created by more than 40 artists, depict the Bath House through the years in its various incarnations as well as East Dallas life as it unfolded nearby.
