The Dallas City Plan Commission yesterday turned down the special use permit request for a bowling alley along the 1800 block of Greenville Avenue.

According to both articles, the bowling alley, to be run by Brooke Humphries of Barcadia, stepped up as the first new business to apply for the SUP that would allow it to operate after midnight under terms of the new planned development district.

Representatives of surrounding neighborhood associations, according to both pieces, united in their opposition to the bowling alley-bar, and the voice of the developer, Madison Partners, said his group felt “demonized pretty bad by the neighborhood and some of the commissioners.”

Apparently it was a close vote to deny, and City Council still could approve the permit with a three-fourths majority vote.
