Lakewood resident Daniel Munoz-Vidal won the Texas Congressional District 5 art contest just more than a month ago.

Part of the honor involved a trip to Washington, D.C., to attend an artists reception for the winners, whose works will hang in the U.S. Capitol building.

U.S. Congressman Jeb Hensarling, Texas-05, recently met with Munoz-Vidal, a senior at Booker T. Washington High School, during the reception.

According to an e-missive from the congressman’s office, Hensarling “congratulated Daniel on his outstanding pencil drawing, entitled ‘Chairs,’ and talked to him about his plans after high school.”
