Sugar Needs Some Sweetness

By Bruce Felps

The dog and her situation are out in East Texas but the person trying to arrange rescue lives here in East Dallas and asked nicely so, OK.

Someone moved from their home and abandoned Sugar, a female white American pit bull Staffordshire bull terrier . They left her chained outdoors during the course of this ongoing heatwave.

Neighbors and other do-gooders came to Sugar’s aid, freed her, by the looks of the photos, continue to feed her and provide water.

They’ve searched for a shelter or rescue-foster group to no avail or to projected euthanasia mostly because of Sugar’s bloodline.

She’s described as living up too her name — sweet, friendly disposition and grateful for the help and attention.

The organizer of the East Texas Sugar rescue group said a county constable is due at the abandoned property July 20 to begin condemnation proceedings. The constable told the organizer that Sugar will be taken at that time to a nearby kill-shelter.

The organizer collected donations enough to pay for some veterinarian services, including spay surgery.

Contact the organizer to help arrange a safe haven for Sugar. The dog’s life truly depends on it.
