The Woodrow Wilson Wildcats finished at number 10 in The Dallas Morning News All-Sports Awards for 2011, moving up from 19th in 2010.

Seventy high schools in North Texas from Wichita Falls to Texarkana  were ranked in the 4-A competition. Woodrow placed higher than any other Dallas school and ahead of many respected athletic programs in the suburbs.

Woodrow’s score of 91 was based on the success of its athletic teams in district and play-off competition. The score was higher than 133 schools in both 4-A and 5-A.

Many of the school’s teams won district championships and went on to regional playoffs.

The basketball team was ranked as high as fifth in the state after winning a national tournament in Florida and an international tournament in Canada. They lost to state champions Kimball by five points.

Golfer Grace Choi finished fifth in the state 4-A tournament.

Bobby Estes is athletic director of Woodrow Wilson High School.
