Grand Finale Party Approaches

Time to hit high gear on the Comerica White Rock Lake Centennial Celebration hoopla. We’ve got only nine days, including two weekends, before we start counting down the next 100 years, and won’t that be a moot point for about all of us?

So, looking ahead to the grand finale — the Beach Party of the Century — plan next weekend to comfy down the attire a little bit … no, a little bit more … think beach … and partake in all manner of lakeside fun from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., June 25, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m., June 26, at the Bath House Cultural Center, sponsored by For the Love of the Lake, because, like, they don’t already do enough to benefit White Rock, with support from White Rock Lake Foundation and Friends of the Bath House.

The party — of the century, mind you — includes an antique car show; a lake history symposium; children’s activities — such as indoor and outdoor musical performances, and old-fashioned games like pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and bobbing for apples — a cake walk; a pie eating contest; picnic food; beer and wine; an ice cream social; concerts; a fireworks show starting at 9 pm., Saturday.

Tickets cost $15 for adults, $5 for kids, and nothing for children 5 years and younger. Get your tickets at Comerica Bank East Dallas branches, Whole Foods Lakewood, Green Spot, and Highland Park Cafeteria.

Free parking will be available at Norbuck Park, Flagpole Hill, and the White Rock DART station with complimentary shuttle service to and from the Bath House all day.

  • 7 p.m. — awards and birthday celebration
