The Padres baseball team wrapped up spring play this week by winning the American League West of the “A” division in the Chamber Baseball league.

The Padres are primarily comprised of fifth-graders from St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School in Wilshire Heights but the team also includes players from St. Bernard Catholic School in Little Forest Hills and St. John’s Episcopal School in Old Lake Highlands.

The Padres posted a seasonal record of 14.5 wins and .5 losses, the best record of the 73 teams in Chamber Baseball.

The Padres scored 157 runs and allowed only 56 runs for the season. Most of the Padres players have played baseball together as a team since they were 4 years old.

Pete Carton, Rob Peck, Steve Ramos, and Ted Zapletal coach the Padres.

Thanks to proud father and coach Ted Zapletal for providing the words and picture.
