Theft Reported

By Bruce Felps

According to Dallas police report case No. 127626Y, two women stole the purse of an 82-year-old lady in the parking lot outside the Tom Thumb store at Mockingbird Commons.

The theft occurred mid-May as the victim transferred the contents of a shopping cart into her car. Her purse sat in the shopping cart as two women described by police as “black females about 25 years of age” drove by in a cobalt blue 2003 Ford Focus with temporary paper plates 02B2747.

The passenger jumped out of the Focus, grabbed the victim’s purse, re-entered the car, which fled westbound on Mockingbird Lane to southbound Greenville Avenue.

Police said the temporary license plates traced back to an address on Ross Avenue near Carroll Avenue, “so it’s likely that the suspects will be caught on this one,” according to an e-mail message from Senior Cpl. Vincent Alliss.

Be mindful of your possessions when out in public. Distractions can mean subtractions. Help the police help us by paying attention and guarding your stuff. Don’t leave it unattended even “just for a second.”
