The Memorial Day three-day-weekend holiday marks the unofficial start to summer, and the Dallas Arboretum might provide the most scenic grounds in East Dallas for the unofficial start to summer.

It also offers a children’s concert — performed by Eddie Coker, naturally — on Memorial Day, complete with picnic options.

Coker takes the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., May 30. The show is free with the price of admission to the botanical gardens.

Concertgoers can bring picnic lunches or avail themselves of multiple options, um, available at the Arboretum.

And P.S. — All active and retired military personnel receive free admission to the Arboretum by showing a military photo ID from May 27-30.
