Stonewall yarn-bombed

Anthony Rodriguez, who attended Stonewall, probably isn’t too sure what to make of all this. — All photos by Lilia Estrada

Stealth bombers attacked Stonewall Jackson Elementary School yesterday.

Rather than incendiaries, though, the bombers struck with colorful yarn.

Contributing photographer Lilia Estrada captured the aftermath of the yarn bombers, and thanks, Lilia, for sharing.

One thought, though. “Bomb” seems such a harsh word for something as warm and fuzzy as yarn art. “Yarn droppings” seems kind of, well, you know.

Suggestions?

“The Yarn Bombers”, there was an interview on one of the local stations this week with a woman who puts these yarn creations around the city. I think her intentions are good but I wonder why she doesn’t donate the yarn to senior centers or homes or make useful gifts for people in hospitals, etc…with all that yarn. Yarn isn’t cheap.
