Mockingbird Station escalator injures 18

By Bruce Felps

Looking down the escalator at Mockingbird Station, the one that links the upper level to the DART light rail platform, can be like looking into an abyss.

That thing is long and steep.

According to a news brief published today at the Dallas Morning News website, it also can be dangerous.

According to the item, nine people — seven children and two adults from Thompson Middle School in Quinlan, Texas — were hospitalized this afternoon after incurring injuries reportedly caused by an escalator malfunction. Another 11 were injured but did not require hospitalization.

Biggest problem I’ve ever had with the escalators there was on the up side when it was turned off and I had returned from Dallas Stars games. That’s a long, steep climb back up.
