Swapping Plants

By Bruce Felps

Face it. You and that azalea bush in the back have been on the outs for a while now. Maybe it’s time for a clean break so both can start anew.

Uproot it, wrap the roots in newspaper and tie it off, and take the plant to Downing Hill Garden Studio this weekend for the second Greenland Hills/M-Streets Neighborhood Association plant swap.

The swap meet takes place at 10 a.m., April 30, at the studio.

It’s free to community residents, and participants need not bring plants, seed packets, or garden tools to engage, although people who bring items to trade get first dibs.

The event should include white iris bulbs, a few purple coneflower plants, and quite a few Black-Eyed Susans, along with seed packets, yard tools, gardening books, and other digging-in-the-dirt items.
