N’hood Associations Combine for Candidates Forum

By Bruce Felps

Ten East Dallas neighborhood associations joined forces to arrange a candidates forum featuring the individuals running for the District 2 and District 14 seats on City Council.

The forum takes place at 6:30 p.m., March 31, at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, located at Ross and Henderson avenues.

Incumbent Pauline Medrano and challenger Billy MacLeod seek the District 2 seat. Incumbent Angela Hunt and challengers Vernon Franko, James Nowlin, and Brian Oley seek the District 14 chair.

Representatives of the Lakewood Heights, Lower Greenville, Hudson Heights, Vickery Place, Lowest Greenville West, Belmont Neighborhood, Greenland Hills, Wilshire Heights, and Munger Place Historic District neighborhood associations, as well as the Dallas Homeowners League, coordinated the forum.

Organizers expect a heavy turnout. Rather than fielding individual questions from the floor, candidates will respond to a list of questions accumulated from interested citizens and arranged by Lakewood Heights NA President David Kindle. E-mail questions to Kindle by March 30.
