Fore the Love of the Lake

Commemorating 100 years of White Rock Lake with 100 days of events to celebrate its continued wetness takes a bit of money as does completing the items on the top 10 project list to improve and upgrade the lake and its environs.

So the White Rock Lake Centennial Committee put together a little golf tournament to help raise funds and show a little golfer love.

The Kessler Collins Centennial Golf Tournament starts with a shotgun format at 1 p.m., April 4, at Tenison Park Golf Course.

Registration — deadline is today — costs $150 for individuals and $600 for a foursome.

Sign-in and lunch start at 11:30 a.m., and the awards ceremony takes place immediately after the last team finishes.

Winners buy. OK, that last part might not be official.

Proceeds raised from the tournament and the series of events go toward making the top 10 projects list a reality. The list — topping out at more than $30 million — has been identified by the Dallas Park and Recreation Department and will be funded through private and public partnerships.

As it stands now, the city has $4.8 million funded not counting any future bond capital funds.

I was so afraid that some fool would think a golf tournament benefiting WRL could be played somewhere other than Tennison. Whew.
