Going door-to-door

A couple of people knocked on my front door today.

I don’t buy steaks in bulk lots, don’t even eat steak for that matter, so the first visitor brought nothing of interest and a slight bit of irritation.

The second visitor, though, brought a familiar face.

Avi Adelman was out canvassing the Lower Greenville Avenue neighborhood in an effort to collect petition signatures of registered voters on behalf of former chief of police and now candidate for Dallas mayor David Kunkle.

We chatted for a bit and Adelman said he supports Kunkle and works for his campaign because, among other things, the former top-cop isn’t connected to the big-money guys in Dallas and because he’s street-savvy.

Don’t be surprised to see Adelman on your front porch in the very near future. Monday marks the day political candidates can officially file to run.

Oh, oh, oh, I almost forgot — which means I did forget but remembered just now — Kunkle has a baseball-like trading card, which is a cool piece of promotional material. But it does beg one question: For whose card would one trade?
