Let’s turn our collective attention to something considerably warmer — romance and dogs.

Having one could lead to the other next week when Dee’s Doggie Den puts on its third annual Valentine Singles Mingle for Dogs and Their Humans.

Introductory butt sniffing and handshakes begin at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 9, at the canine day care center.

The dogs can make new acquaintances in the 8,000-square-foot open play area, and humans can generate sparks while partaking of champagne and chocolates.

Guests are asked for a $10 admission donation to benefit Little Forest Hills Animal Alert, a neighborhood coalition of pet lovers who volunteer to help locate and return lost dogs and cats in the community.

Cats need not apply for Wednesday’s festivities.

Okay — just want to make sure I am clear on this — I get to drink the champagne and my dogs get to engage in introductory butt sniffing, right? It’s not the other way around — I mean, I don’t think that champagne is good for dogs.

champagne and chocolate probably should stay with the humans. everything else, though, is a matter of personal preference.
