A goodly portion of the East Dallas community is focused just now on parties and events leading up to and through the White Rock Lake Centennial celebrations, and rightfully so.

However, a lakeshore icon also marks a milestone anniversary this year.

The Bath House Cultural Center turns 30 on Aug. 22, which makes it the oldest cultural center in town.

The staff and Friends of the Bath House Cultural Center are in the opening stages of planning the birthday bash, which likely won’t take place until about Labor Day because the gallery and performing arts venue annually takes a breather mid- to late-August right after the Festival of Independent Theaters.

Let’s not forget to commemorate the lake’s younger cousin when it hits the big 3-0.
